This year's main theme:

PMO as a Change Agent

Relive it again: Witold Hendrysiak

Benefits management is increasingly popular topic in the field of project portfolio management. And it is hardly surprising, because the implementation of the management process brings many positive results at all stages of the project life cycle.

Witold Hendrysiak Head of Project Portfolio Management Process in Strategy & Organization Department of Raiffeisen POLBANK S.A., former President of the PMI Poland Chapter (PMI Chapter of the Year in 2013) with over 20 years of experience in the field of project management led a lively round table discussion.

From the questions posed at the beginning of the session: “How benefits management affects the process of project portfolio management?”, intensively discussing participants went on to consider how to effectively implement benefits management in the organization.

The key conclusion which was repeated among most comments was that:

- in any project we need strong Sponsor who will give us a support, therefore the new process will be successful and accepted by the organization if we implement it in small steps, and last but not least it is important to show how many advantages this process can bring, for example:

  • The process of selecting the projects to the portfolio is easier, because when the sponsors submit new ideas they already implement internal discipline and think about the changes that will allow them to present the best results. Project Sponsor who will be held accountable for investment result, from the beginning will liquidate bells and whistles of it.
  • Benefits management process improves organizational culture, developes entrepreneurial attitudes, and learn to take responsibility for your management area.
  • Even after the project completion there is a chance to improve return on investment. By monitoring the benefits derived from the implementation of a new product, we can always affect its sales and improve benefits site, even though the cost side is already closed.

We had a chance to discuss that and many more If we only share our experience we can learn a lot from each other - Witold thank you very much for an interesting and flexible moderation of the session!
