Making the PMO critical to business - Marisa Silva
You usually don’t see other departments, such as Legal or Finance, having to sell their importance to the Executives. However, this is a well-known scenario for the PMO. The reality is that the PMO faces an underlying paradox in their raison d’être: while it exists to meet the needs of the business, if all projects were successful, in principle, you would assume there would be no need for the PMO. A question thus should be asked: how can the PMO become indispensable to business?
In this presentation, I argue that to transcend the notion that the PMO's justification is tied to project failure and temporality, the PMO need to elevate its profile and position themselves as a sustainable source of value by addressing five key challenges.
